Bull Kelp & Balayage

I am in the thick of a go-go-go lifestyle. As a mom of three feral boys under the age of six, I live within chaos while trying to keep balance in our little island home. I look to the natural world that surrounds me to find the pause and exhale I need. My paintings are a space to capture those vital, quiet moments.

My work chases the feeling of a place. The mist rising off the farmlands on a morning walk, happy bees humming around lavender at the marina dock, a red sun rising behind a neighboring island, my dog chasing the shadow of a butterfly in our backyard, and the feeling of seaweed under my toes.

Fluidity has become not only a quality I've embraced as I move through the world but a process over which I obsess. I use watercolor techniques, working quickly to lay down acrylic washes and stains of color. It's a dance between being deliberate and surrendering, guiding the paint and then allowing it to rest and take shape in unpredictable ways. This constant push-and-pull between control and letting go mirrors the unpredictability of nature and life.

These paintings are a personal record of the moments of pause. In them, I create space for others to slow down and reconnect to their own internal rhythm, finding stillness amidst chaos.
